Ferromanganese
|
Electric arc furnace inside "Elettrosiderurgica Italiana" former ferromanganese works.
The factory dates back to the early 60s, when Tassara iron and steel company decided to built such a plant in Liguria, near Savona. The location was strategically chosen, as in the area was operating a big coke plant (still active today) and the availability of coke was high. Again, the area was served by an important coal-fired power plant located on the coast line, and this electric arc furnace needed a large amount of power.
Acquired by Comilog during the 90s, the plant was closed in 2001.
