Establishments that constitute the chemical pole extending in the wide plain below the village of Nera Montoro. The most significant settlement is formed by the establishment of New Terni Industrie Chimiche which stands near the train station, on the right bank of the River, while the remaining and newer plants are located on the opposite shore, accessible by a bridge. The main feature of the plant is constituted by the intermingling of pipelines and the emergence of an incredible series of smokestacks, towers and tanks of various shapes and materials of construction. The first plant that gave birth to the current industrial pole rises in 1915 for the company's hydroelectric initiative Villeneuve, to produce chlorates. With the end of the war the factory ceased operations and was transferred to the Italian Company for Aluminum. The production resumed in 1922 when the Italian company Synthetic Ammonia # SIAS # detect it and start the restructuring. In 1925 the Societą Terni, incorporating the SIAS, integrated in its organization the establishment of Nera Montoro who, unique in Italy, availed of Casale process for the production of synthetic ammonia. From the 1930s until the 1960s, with war destructions very limited, there is a process of expansion and renewal. In 1964, following the restructuring, the electrochemical activity of Terni province were incorporated, Terni Industrie Chimiche, group Finsider, later moving to ENI in 1967.
