Patterns of industry - floorplates
|
These cast-iron floorplates are used for the intermediate and upper floors at the Crossness pumping engines near London. They show the typical detail that 19th century engineers loved to include in even the most 'ordinary' installations.
In parts of the retored areas of the engines these plate have been painted white on the top surface, and red inside the openings. I prefer the unpainted version seen here.
