Cartiere Miliani Fabriano
|
The monumental plant was built in 1782 by Pietro Miliani to unify the many paper producers in Fabriano, where this industry has been active since 1264. The company is world-famous for its watermarked paper (it's one of the official suppliers for the Euro banknotes) and the drawing paper, branded after the hometown of Fabriano (www.fabriano.com).
The production has moved in 1977 into a modern plant, while the older one today hosts the company HQ and the Istocarta foundation, which preserves the immense archives and promotes scientific studies about the history of paper (www.istocarta.it).
