Canal at Chanxhe
Former railway bridge over Le Canal de l'Ourthe in Chanxhe (B).
Le Canal de l'Ourthe between Liège and Comblain la Tour has been navigable from 1847 till the 1930th. The canal was part of an huge project the Dutch king to connect the Maas with the Moselle (and Rhine) : 300-400 Km. with 205 locks and a tunnel of 2 Km. But the project has been cut off in 1839 because the political situation has been changed and the building of the rail network. Only the lateral canal "le Canal de l'Ourthe" between Liège and Comblain la Tour has been build.
